Autodesk® BIM 360™ Glue

Hagerman & Company

There has never been a more exciting time to be in the AEC industry. The last few years has seen major shifts in how architects and engineers create more complex and increasingly efficient building projects. The advancements in technology and changes in social, financial and environmental practices have changed almost every aspect of project lifecycles as well as how design tools are being utilized. Many firms, large and small, have struggled to keep up with the changes BIM has presented and still maintain productivity, quality and profitability while adopting new technology and managing training, collaboration and implementation of new tools while boldly going forward into unknown territory.

BIM360

Those of us that were part of the revolution in the early days of CAD recognized early that BIM was the next big thing and had the potential to force cycles of change on an industry that was not prepared for the avalanche of advancements that the AEC world has encountered in recent years. The shift away from drafting and the disconnected and often error-prone process of project coordination with drawings to a more Information driven process have come with some of the same trepidations in the AEC community as those who saw their drawing boards become obsolete a generation or so before. Adoption of BIM processes required investments in new and often expensive hardware and complex software packages that have caused much heartburn to AEC design professionals, firm managers and IT professionals alike. It seemed that we were just finishing an upgrade before something new came along or functionality was added to a program and we had to go back to the drawings board, so to speak.

The BIM process has come a long way since it first arrived on the scene and advancements in cloud based technologies has led to another shift in how project teams share and manage critical information. To help ease the anxiety of the latest changes, Autodesk has taken great steps to make the technology more accessible and portable, putting the right tool in the hands of the right people at the right time. The latest offering from Autodesk® is called BIM 360™Glue which leverages the advantages of cloud based storage and collaboration and the development of mobile applications that has brought all of that power to the devices that we have all come to rely on for so many other things in our daily lives. These are very exciting times indeed and we are all witnesses to the future of how our industry does business and there are more reasons than ever to take the next steps in embracing Building Information Modeling technology. Let’s explore the features of this powerful coordination and collaboration tool and what it can do for your BIM projects.

Clash Detection, Coordination, and Collaboration

Autodesk® BIM 360™ Glue is a data-centric, cloud-based management solution for building and infrastructure projects that provides easier access to project models and data to support collaborative, multidisciplinary workflows across authoring tools and project control applications. It enhances cross-team coordination globally as updates are immediately available in project models.

Simplified BIM Coordination

Incorporating technology currently used by leading owners, builders, and designers integrated with advanced Autodesk products as well as other design solutions, the Autodesk® BIM 360™ Glue service delivers a new, cloud-based approach to multidisciplinary coordination, model aggregation, clash management, and BIM collaboration for building and infrastructure projects.

The Autodesk BIM 360 Glue service simplifies multidiscipline model coordination. With support for more than 50 design tools, it’s easier to create a consolidated model, find clashes, and resolve conflicts before the construction phase begins.
