Use the Qselect Command in AutoCAD to Quickly Filter and Select Objects

Have you ever worked on a large drawing and needed to select multiple items with similar characteristics and found the process tedious and time-consuming? 

Qselect command to the rescue. 

The QSELECT command in AutoCAD® is a powerful tool for quickly filtering and selecting objects based on specific properties such as object type, layer, color, and more. It proves especially helpful when working with large, complex drawings where manually selecting individual objects can be time-consuming. 

How to Use QSELECT: 

1. Type QSELECT in the command line or access it from the Home tab under Utilities.
   
   
2. In the Quick Select dialog box, choose the type of object you want to select from the Object type dropdown menu (e.g., Lines, Circles, Text).
   
3. Define additional filters such as properties (e.g., color, layer, or linetype). In this case, select all circles with a diameter greater than 1. 
   
4. Click OK, and AutoCAD will select all objects that match your criteria. Here, we see only circles over 1” in diameter selected. 
   
   

Another Example:

If you want to select all circles on a specific layer:

• Set Object type to "Circle."
• Set Layer to the desired layer.
• Click OK to automatically select all matching circles.
